Frequently Asked Question

Collagen is the most abundant protein in the human body and is a major component of the extracellular matrix (ECM). It is comprised of three polypeptide chains that are rich in hydroxy-proline amino acids and are twisted together into a triple-helical structure. Over 20 different types of collagen have been identified in humans; the main types are type I, II, and III; and together they make up 80% of the body’s collagen. Type I and III are important for wound healing.

Over 20 different types of collagen have been identified in humans; the main types are type I, II, and III; and together they make up 80% of the body’s collagen. Type I and III are important for wound healing

Do Not Use collagen dressings in the following circumstances:

1.Third-degree burns

2.Wounds covered in dry eschar (dead and dry tissue or skin)

3.Patient sensitivity to bovine derived products

Collagen wound dressings are suitable for granulating wounds and wounds with minimal-to-heavy exudates (i.e. watery discharge and or pus). Wounds which are chronic and non-healing may also benefit from collagen dressings which can jump-start the healing process.

Collagen dressings are the new age dressing for wound management, the difference between traditional dressing and collagen is the fact that the collagen present helps the wound granulate faster, as it is made of the same component our skin is made of. Hence this helps in rapid regeneration of skin.

1st step- check wound for infections and dead tissue

2nd step- if infection then treat infection and surgically debride eschar or dead tissue till you see the pink skin.

3rd step- once the above step is done clean it with saline or NS so there is enough moisture for Seeskin collagen dressing to adhere or stick on to.

4th step- cover the collagen dressing and wound with normal cotton gauze or gauze dressing so there is enough room for oxygen permisaablitity i.e. it helps the wound to receive oxygen through the gauze. It helps is healing. Oxygen permissibility is very important for any form of wound healing.

5th step- if it’s a very deep wound with exudates and heavy discharge change dressing every alternate day. If wound does not have heavy exudates change every three days. If its healing wound change every five days.

It is SynerHeal best efforts to come up with international standard products without international price tags, we keep it affordable as it’s our belief that everyone deserves healing. Hence we started out to revolutionize collagen therapy and healing for every individual. We keep improvising and innovating to do the same.

Happy healing!

It is ok to change brands as the primary focus of any collagen product is wound healing. It’s good to use SynerHeal products as it currently holds patent in cutting edge nano technology for cutting down the molecular size for rapid absorption. And our product hols the newest technology and gold standard collagen.

Synerheal pharmaceutical as a principle doesn’t not endorse collagen dressings impregnated with any sort of antibiotic since it becomes contradictory in nature, collagen focuses on rapid regeneration and healing while antibiotics focus on killing and decreasing infection hence with antibiotic impregnated collagen dressings will not be able dedicatedly focus on either of its task.

We advise patients with infections to treat the infection on their wounds first after which application of collagen dressing will be able to do its work and rapidly heal the wound and take skin from granulation to epithelialisation.

We have three primary types of dressings

Seeskin Collagen Sponge dressings: these are designed to meet one of the main goals of wound care creating a moist environment conducive to wound healing.these are for not so deep and regaural shaped wound. Its is not adhesive type hence is completely bio absorbable and hence there is no wear and tear on the wound during dressing changes.

Seeskin-P collagen particle dressing: these are particles of collagen and is in powder form hence helps in deep penetrating wound that is also irregular shaped. Like bed sores, bullet wounds etc.

Colldrez-D Collagen Sheet Dressing: These are for more surface and healing wounds that might not require the collagen content of particle and sponge dressing and is also bio absorbable.

  1. Good nutrition. In general, you should follow a balanced diet which includes all the essential food groups. …
  2. Physical activity. Research suggested exercise could help accelerate the wound healing process. …
  3. Use of bandage. …
  4. Avoid smoking. …
  5. Limit alcohol intake.

Don’t use collagen dressings in the following circumstances: • Third-degree burns • Patient sensitivity to bovine (cattle), porcine (swine), or avian (bird) products • Wounds covered in dry eschar (dead and dry tissue or skin)

The frequency of dressing changes will vary depending on the wound and brand, collagen by SynerHeal pharmaceuticals have patent nano technology that cuts down the molecular size of collagen and helps in more rapid absorption compared to other products in the market. Hence ranges from daily to every 4 days depending on the exudate and size of the wound.

Collagen wound dressings are suitable for use on necrotic or granulating wounds (that is dead tissue and healing wounds), on wounds with minimal-to-heavy exudates (i.e. watery discharge and or pus). Wounds which are chronic and non-healing may also benefit from collagen dressings which can jump-start the healing process.

Best to use our collagen dressings when,

Wounds that have ‘stalled’ in the healing phase – Partial thickness burns (1st and 2nd degree) – Diabetic ulcers (foot, leg, heels etc) – Pressure ulcers (bedsores etc)

-Venous ulcers – Skin graft donor sites – Dehisced surgical wounds – Infected wounds, providing the infection is managed locally or systemically

Bringing successful wound care, Collagen has been used widely within wound care, and in multiple forms for different reasons. It had become apparent that chronic wounds were trapped in the inflammatory phase of wound healing and would not progress to healing without resolving inflammation. During the inflammatory phase, a wound attempts to cleanse itself of all non-viable tissue and debris by utilizing digestive enzymes to break down non-vital tissue and exudate to wash away the debris.

There are three types of Collagen that are native to the body and to the wound healing process Type I: The most abundant of all three collagen types. It is the dominant constituent, occupying more than 90% of the tissue and is the most used collagen in the wound healing process. Synerheal pharmaceuticals exclusively uses type 1 collagen in all our products.

It attracts cells, such as fibroblasts and keratinocytes, to the wound, which encourages debridement, angiogenesis, and reepithelialisation. Collagen dressings stimulate new tissue growth and encourage the deposition and organization of newly formed collagen fibres and granulation tissue in the wound bed.

In a healing wound, a cascade of events occurs and is broken into what is known as the phases of wound healing. These include platelet accumulation, inflammation, fibroblast proliferation, cell contraction, angiogenesis and re-epithelialization. This cascade ultimately leads to scar formation and wound remodelling. Collagen plays an important role in each of these phases of wound healing due to its chemotactic role. It attracts cells such as fibroblasts and keratinocytes to the wound. This encourages debridement, angiogenesis and re-epithelialization. A chronic wound is stalled at one of these healing stages. This usually occurs during the inflammatory phase and is linked to elevated levels of matrix metalloproteinase (MMPs) in the wound. In normal wound.

COLLDREZ D is a breathable, transparent, self-adhesive flexible dressing, designed to heal Partial Thickness Burns, non-infected.

Post granulation or Epithelialization Stage of healing.

Unfortunately, there are times when the wound fails to progress through orderly wound healing process. This is commonly the result of an extended inflammation. Bioburden, or the presence of biofilm in the wound, can also delay the wound healing process. When delayed wound healing occurs, collagen dressings can restart the wound healing cascade.
